식물 인터페이스 ( A Current-based Interactive Plant ) Version 3.0
| My Projects/M.S Project 2010/02/23 19:42We used Adafruit Wave Shield so that the interactive plant did not have to be connected to the computer,
and could play audio by itself using internal speakers. Using the Wave Shield,
we could easily play wave files by inserting an SD card, which had all the neessary files, into the memory slot.
The software was responsible for analyzing the electric current data and understand the gesture done by the user.
Determining the type of gesture was a difficult task because the only data available were the values of the electric currents.
However, by graphing the electrical current values and finding characteristics of the shape of the graph for each gesture,
we could profile the gestures. The characteristic shapes of the graphs for each gesture is shown above, which also has some
location-based gesture profiles not used in the interactive plant, but could be used in the future for other purposes.
we filtered the current values so that electric current “noise” would not be registered.
After the data was filtered, any incoming valid data meant that a user began performing a gesture.
Once this event was triggered, the values of the electric current were kept in a buffer to be analyzed later.
The ending of a gesture was determined by sensing a short amount of time in which no activity is detected.
External Appearance of Compact Plant Interface.
There are two LEDs mounted on the bottom to visualize his/her emotions.
Speaker was mounted on one side.
A drill which delivers electric current to a plant was located on the center of upper side.
People's reaction in Korea Invention Patent Exhibition 2009. It was quite good, I think !
